Event Premise
- Technology Multi-National Corporations (MNC'S) need to achieve a continuous, focused, and highly selective research and development (R&D) flow.
- In parallel, the shortening of product life cycles has produced a parallel need to reduce/collapse developmental timelines; this often demands the use of specialist and increasingly, independent resource.
- A lack of new product "pipeline" and the shortage of parallel in-house resource to develop such products, means that independent Information and Communication Technology (ICT) specialists are now accepted by MNC's as part of their global resource.
- As MNC's are large-opportunity focused, and early-stage averse, such collaborations offer real opportunities to smaller leading-edge technology businesses; hence many have been "adopted" as a source of both new ideas and pure research by larger MNC's.
- However, the link between the large technology companies, the smaller developmental companies, and the R&D "boutiques" is tenuous; such links would be improved by a better understanding of the market's real developmental focus.
Critically,
"Understanding local ICT MNC's requirements will determine R&D sector focus, and the commercial posture required to drive such collaborative commercial relationships.
Companies working together can gain a business edge by developing stronger propositions, ideas and speed up market success..."
Event Goals
- To provide direction and focus for the local ICT Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and HEI's in regard to their research and development programmes and process.
- This in turn to be based upon the direction where MNC's are focussing research within the ICT sector.
- The conference will also focus on developing best practices in commercial alliances and the development of partner relationships
